Spring Gardening Seminar with Brian Cross at Ballyvolane House
Ballyvolane House

Spring is by far the best time to visit the beautiful gardens of Co. Cork. Celebrated garden designer Brian Cross will be hosting a two-day gardening seminar at Ballyvolane House on Saturday, 25th and Sunday, 26th April 2009.

Brian CrossThe seminar is ideal for all budding gardeners as well as experts and the seminar covers many aspects of garden design, planting, cultivation, and choice of plant material. Brian has also secured access to a variety of stunning gardens in the local area and these include Brian’s own garden Lakemount, Ballyvolane’s historic gardens, Hillside nursery, Cedar Lodge, Windy Ridge and Poulacurry House. The gardens have been chosen to reflect many different facets of gardening from a large mature country house garden to a small cottage garden.

Vegetables in the walled gardenBrian Cross is well known both in Ireland and abroad for his skill as a garden designer, specializing mainly on private commissions. His garden Lake mount (www.lakemountgarden.com) has been described as the flagship of Irish gardens by the Royal Horticultural Society, and has been included in many garden and lifestyle publications. He is a regular contributor to The Irish Garden, and runs gardening classes in his garden during the spring and autumn.

The seminar is spread over two days starting with dinner at Ballyvolane on Friday, 24th April 2009 and finishing up on Sunday, 26th April afternoon. Places are limited and priority will be given to those staying at the house.
